Home curing live rock?
Due to cost I am thinking of curing the majority of the live rock I need for my tank. I can get 100 pounds of pohmpai for 299.00 with shipping included as opposed to 485.00 at the lfs for cured stuff. Could I cure it in my tank prior to set up? I have a euroreef skimmer and am going to use a macro bed as well. Can I PUT THE MACR BED IN WHEN THE ROCK IS CURING? Advice please as to the easiest way to do this.

why do you want the macro in with the curing live rock. IM sure you can...but why..if youre using a skimmer on it...then it should be fine unless you just dont have a place to put it..Im sure it will be fine in the curing vat but I recommend placing it elsewhere.

Sure, cure your own LR. You will get more life in the long run. I agree with above about the macro, why put it in. Run your skimmer, plenty of circulation and lights while curing. It will smell, but that is only temporary.

nah. if you keep up on changing the water it will go by in no time. Just remember..Heater, powerhead, skimmer. The skimmer provides enough aeration probably so if you dont have an extra PH, you can scrap that....
It also obviously depends on the amount the rock was "cured" before..and how much die off you get in shipping. GL ![]()
