Range for Alkalinity

OK, I am a little confused. What is the desirable range for Alk? Is mine too high at 4.8 meq/L? What do you use to bring it down? My PH is 8.2 and I don't have a Calcium test, yet.

Upon my distributor's suggestion, I purchased some Warner Marine Calx-Max 2-part calcium additive. I am not sure how to apply it. Right now I have nothing but LR so assuming I won't need as much as when I have the tank fully stocked.

4-6 Meq/L is the recomended range for a reef tank. You're right on on both accounts. Calcuim needs to br 400-500 PPM and sps/coraline algae will love you

Kevin
