Question how many hrs/mins a day do you spend on your tank?

Im curious as to how much time everyone spends actually enjoying their tank? and how much time you spend taking care of it (cleaning your skimmer, testing water, feeding etc)

As for me I spend an avg of 2-4 hrs/a day enjoying it.....and maybe 30 mins. on avg a day cleaning the glass, skimmer, feeding and keeping everything in check.

I know alot of us consider feeding and cleaning an enjoyment too.

Way too much...about 10x as much as my wife would like.

Well I guess i spend very little time tending to it. Feed it 2 times a day give it a good look over and test once a mounth when doing water change. So on average probably 10-15 maintence and mics.

Spend time most all day enjoying it. When I watch TV I watch it during comercials since it sits behind the couch. Probably looking at it 1-2 hours a day easy.

I spend about 30 min. a day doing top off, feeding and cleaning from glass.

About every 3 months, I spend a few hours cleaning and maintaining equipment such as cleaning powerheads, skimmer, lights and pumps.

15% water change everyother week. Takes me about 45 minutes.

hmm........ i feed a few times a day(no ,really, somtimes four on the weekends) ,add bionic every morning, top off every three days or so,water change every month or two...watch it all the time;)

here's a question for you....do you spend more time on youre tank,or reading up on the hobby,be it books or online?

i think spend about equal amounts on both

I absolutely spend more time watching and enjoying than maintaining. I probably spend 1-2 hrs watching in the evening. I do all cleaning and maintence on sundays about 3-4 hrs.

I spend about 6-8 hrs a week reading or going online to learn about reef stuff.

I usually spend about an hour each day cleaning the skimmer, checking the effluent of the calcium reactor (my bpm count increases over a few days and then I have to adjust it back...major PIA). I also have to pick up corals that fall from time to time, clean the glass once/twice a week. I do bimonthly water changes and take out the sponge/floss each week for cleaning. I always seem to have little projects that take time. I have to clean the calcium deposits off the center brace every two days with a razor blade. I tinker a lot and look at it a lot. I usually see things I don't like when I look at it though...like:

    flatworms
    aiptasia
    anemone majano
?new types of algae every day
    cyano here and there
    a large predator crab
    etc

But I sure have a lot of fun doing all this stuff.

    Nanook;)

I'm obsessed i guess. I spend 1.5 hours or so a day prepearing fresh kalk, cleaning the skimmer, and positioning stuff. The fun comes at midnight or so when i do my huge second feeding, and see all the worms, mini bristlestars, and pods come out. I'm getting more and more leary about aquascaping after sighting that 18"+ fireworm. That's has to hurt! I'm online wayyy too much, and studying wy too little. Oh well, i never wanted to drive trains anyway, at least that's what i thought when they said engineer???.......

Luckily I work from home , so I can see my tank most of the day. So I enjoy it all day and do maintenance at lunch time or if I am walking by the tank, I will wipe the glass with the magnet if I see something.

I don't do much maintenance, other than the normal glass wipe or make sure everything is in check with ph, etc. I go by look rather than numbers. I would say I get to look at my tank 6-8 or more hours a day.

Don't even get me started after lights go out though. I love looking after lights out looking at full polyp extension and the night life. Truly amazing to have something like this in our home.

    What a great hobby!

I spend about 5 minutes on the glass about twice a week. 2 minutes feeding about 3 times a week and 30 minutes a week on other cleaning stuff.

I guess about once every other month I get into water changes and cleaning the skimmer. I have to remove the simmer collection cup twice a week so there's another 3 minutes.............Man I'm tired

Gotta type quick so my wife doesn't see this. Have nine tanks, koi pond, turtle tank, larval tanks, rotifer cultures, artemia cultures, (man. I'm SICK). Hard to seperate work time from enjoyment time, always tinkering. Even simple observarvation becomes work, always studying interactions and deciding how to make improvements. I'd say four hours per day not counting a quick check everytime I walk by a tank. In addition, one full day on the weekends cleaning and servicing. Do I need 12 step?

Hey yall! I spend about 30 minutes a day cleaning glass/skimmer, feeding fish and corals.
My reef set up right in the front door entry way. As soon as you walk in the door it is about 5 feet in front of you. It always makes my day a whole lot better when I come home from work and walk right into the tank! I love it when someone comes to the front door to sell something and they have a hard time talking and looking at me cause they are trying to look at the tank behind me. Anway take care!

I spend about as much time as possible checking out the system and enjoying the system when I get home from work up until lights out which is like 4 hrs a day.
I live in a small condo so everything is in the living room and bed room so no matter where I am in the house I can check things out all the time.
What was that 12th step ??
Usually on the weekends I try to do some kind of major project but the past couple weeks I have taken it easy.
I will be getting a new tank soon so it will be back to buisness as usual.
Gotta stick with it as far as I'm concerned.
Like right now I'm writing this in front of the 90 FOWLR /XENIA tank with the 29 SPS next to it. Look in the picture, I am right now on line at REEF LAND on the TV.
This is where I am when I am online.
This picture is real time , today .

I spend 30-40 per Night watching the tank... Maybe 5-10 per day maintaining and 10 Gallon water changes on the 15th Every month. And of course the search for new and unusal (sp?) life forms.... Crabs fire worms and other things that pop up out of nowhere Reef Tanks are so Cool....
