Looking good Joe. Those are some goo clams..........I sure with I could find a goo size Squamosa clam here in So Cal.........
Joe, when your tank froze last year (or was it late 2000) and you lost everything. You used the same LR, correct? Did anything come back to life from that same LR? How are the SPS doing under your VHO's? Mark |

Sorry to not respond sooner. I have been really busy. My tank is 58 gallons. I have 380 watts of VHO lighting, 2 actinic whites, and 2 super actinic. I am thinking of replacing one of the actinic whites with a aqua sun to see what it looks like. Anyway, I moved in May of last year basically started over. So it is getting close to a year old. The "frozen" tank that Mark is refering to happend Dec 2000. We had an ice storm and lost power for 10 days. The temp in the tank reached 38. Needless to say, nothing survived. After that I just cleaned it up and kept it running but did not add much of anything. I knew I was going to be moving, just wasn't sure when. So when I moved I redid my tank. I used the same live rock I had before, but added 2 new pieces. I put in a new sandbed and added a sump/refugium to the tank this time. (Thaks for the help on that Mark) I could not be happier with the results now.
My web site is out of date. That is my tank before the ice storm. I have a ton of new pics to add to it, but I am too lazy. I will do it soon. I do not drip kalk, but I think I am about to start. I add Kent Liquid calcium, Coral Accell, and DT's on a regular basis. I do not add anythihg else. I am not the model reef citizen when it comes to water changes. I just did one this weekend and the previous one was atleast 2 months ago. I change about 16 gallons when I do it. I think that is what the container is that I fill up. I try to do it once a month, but you know how that goes. I have an RO/DI unit, which is the best item I have bought for this tank. My kitchen floor may not agree with me on that though. I seem to have small floods on a regular basis. Mark-- The SPS seem to be doing good. The bases are spreading out and taking over much more of the rock. The colors have changed a little, but I expected that. Who knows what they will end up like. The rock that endured the storm did not show much life after that. But he pieces were such good shapes that I did not want to do anything else with them. They are now getting covered with coraline algae and many other critters that have migrated from the new pieces of rock that I added. My sand bed seems to be doing great. I used ESV Ootlic for the entire bed. I really love it, the critters keep it very clean and it is so fine, almost powdery. Well, I hope that answered some questions, but if you have anymore, please feel free to ask. I don't mind at all. Joe |
