how does this thing work?
my LFS uses them and i was wondering why they were so great ive been told they kill parasites? does anyone here use them thanks |

It doesn't realy kill parasites unless you have a really big one that lots of water flows through it and the the water moves very slow so the parasite is exposed to the UV light for longer periods of time. slowly.
However, it does kill bacteria and free flowing algae. It works. I use a 40 watt UV on a 75 gallon tank. I do not think that you can buy one big enough to kill parasites. The parasites are much bigger animals and are not killed but are perhaps weaken by the UV. Remember that UV bulb has a predetermined lifespan and needs to be replaced. I would not buy one if you are going to use it to prevent parasite outbreaks. You should deal with the root-cause of the parasite. |

by no means do i have a parasite problem. .
i was just saying what i thought that i knew about the device. . i dont have parasites ![]() but does it kill algae spores? if so, is it a good algae preventer? |
