i've heard 1 to 2 lbs of lr per gal. i have about 120lbs of lr in a 75gal and everything is great. i have a plentum with juast a couple of inches of ls. i'm going to start adding more sand when i return from vacation in two weeks. remove your bio-balls slowly. i took me two weeks to remove all mine.

Ditto ^^

Also after you get more LR and setup a DSB and/or Plenium.. Take the Bio balls out slowly.. Like a 1/4 per week.. This will give the LR and DSB time to take over the filtration.

The sand going to help filter the tank better than the LR.....You could remove a few of the fish

imo you probably dont need more live rock just a deeper well seeded sand bed(and could stand to loose a couple fish)
darn make that about 4-5 fish i would keep the tang the clown and the hawks and trade everything else but then again im cold heartless and completely impartial

Neal359.

I agree with the above comments that a good live DSB would add a lot more to the biological support capabilities of your system that more live rock. And it would take care of your nitrate problems also.
