Any ideas what these blisters are? The polyps do open in this area and coral seems very healthy?

The last part of the link should be the type of image such as .jpg or .gif Not html.

Hmm. Does Homestead allow users to link pictures to other pages? Andrew ------------------ Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic. [This message has been edited by asmith (edited 05-24-2001).] |

I've got EXACTLY the same thing on my Turbinaria!!! Too wierd! I'm still looking for info. If I find any, I'll let you know. FWIW, the blisters on mine eventually "popped" leaving exposed the Coenosteum(the calcium "base"). The coenosarc(tissue between the polyps) receded ever so slightly, but has stopped. The coral is still feeding and responding well. I don't believe this is RTN at all. Stay tuned.

Ralph,
Nope. I'm thinking it might have something to do w/ lighting...at least in my case. I had this coral(I've got 3 Turbinaria) under PC lighting in our 20g. It did fine for several months under the PC lighting. I then transferred it to our 135g which has MH/VHO. I didn't place it high in the tank, but it is definitely "brighter" than the PC lighting. Turbinaria does not require intense light. The corallites(polyps) have not been killed, nor has the tissue receded further. I will let you know if I find out any more info. ------------------ One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to find them. One Ring to bring them all, and in The Darkness bind them. Tahoereefs.com |

The blisters seem to come and go, get larger and smaller, but the coral seems healthy. Mine has always been under PC and MH lighting and always at the top of the tank?
Keep me posted with any thoughts, thanks Lee |

Lehrens,
I don’t know why you picture won’t post. The link URL is good and I edited you first post so that it should have posted. Very strange. I have also never seen the kind of blistering on Turbinaria peltata. Regards, Scott ------------------ The definition of an expert is a washed-up drip under pressure.
