Anthias

I have been thinking about putting some different colored anthias in my 125gal reef that I am setting up but I have read that they do not like
bright light. Does anyone have any experience with these fish, or any reccomendations? My tank is
72"long and will have 3 250w metal halides.

There are several anthia types that adapt well to reef lighting. Bartletts's is one of them which I have 1 of, I also have Dispar and they seem to do well with the light. FWIU if more than 1 is wanted in the tank they need to be introduced at the same time.

I have sunburst anthias...They are awesome...I also like squarebox anthias as well as the ones Paul mentioned....they are pigs and need to be feed a couple of times a day though....but they are beautiful and dont grow outrageously big like tangs.

Just a sidenote. I had 2 sunburst anthias and 3 other kind. (I never was able to get an exact ID) but they were peach colored, the male had small red spots on the tips of his tail. Anyway, last week my wife came home from work to find them all dead as well as 2 cleaner shrimp. I work out of town sometimes, so when I got home I tested the water and everything turned up fine. Only thing I can see is maybe the water got up to around 85 (It was hot that day). Other fish seem unaffected, peppermint shrimp unaffected. Only the anthias and a black cap basslet died. Can't figure it out for the life of me.

Just my observations. I'm staying away from anthias until I get a chiller or something.
