are my clowns acting normal? they are hanging out at the surface, when i put them in they were hanging out by a cave, now ones by the power head at the surface, and the others way on the other side of the tank on the surface... they are like 3/4" very small! to me, they look healthy, just acting wierd

My clown does this at night. He sleeps behind the intake to my Millenium 2000 with like is tail sticking out of the water waving back and forth. He also comes near the top to beg for food and to get attention. Very cute fish.

Here is something you might find interesting from Joyce Wilkerson's book, Clownfishes: "These two species also act differently: Ocellaris Clowns usually live in the middle third (vertically) of an aquarium, while Perculas live near the surface. It can be challenging to make either one of these species settle into a territority away from the surface." Sounds like they are acting like clowns. My maroon has changed residences several times (within the tank) in the year I've had her. Her first home was the right hand corner at the surface. I was afraid she wasn't getting enough O2, but hanging around at the top seems to be typical of clowns.
