Post pic of new canary yellow Pagoda Coral

Just wanted to share a new color morph of the pagoda coral (turbinaria peltata) that has been coming out of a new collection area from Indonesia. Also here is a new pic of Blastomussa wellsi. Check the following page for more pics of them and will update with more pics soon:

I love the color.

I first saw one 3 weeks ago at TNT in San Jose but the only one left was in the display tank. I wanted one bad and I just missed the last one and there was no chance in convincing the owner of selling me that one though. I was at Aquarium Concepts a couple of days ago and there was one left from a shipment 2 days before. It was in an obscure small display tank where nothing is usually for sale but there it was with a price tag. It was easily missed and luckily I saw it and jumped on it right away.

Perry, Petpoor

It was slim pickins as the Tongan shipment wasn't there on Friday, but the shipment from Jakarta produced the yellow pagoda and some blastomussa wellsi that seem to be hard to come by nowadays.

I was talking to Ken (owner of Aquarium Concepts) and asked him about the yellow pagodas. In Indonesia, collectors are given a permits to collect for only a short time from certain areas and must reapply to collect. However, collection areas are changed so that (in my assumption) not one area is exhausted over time and is allowed to recover. And so it happens that the newest collection area has a population of these beautiful new morphs of the pagoda.

Anyhow Perry, the new 180 is still cycling and I'm currently experience an outbreak of slime but that should hopefully pass very fast so that I can put in corals a little faster. The ammonia spike has come back down now and is close to zero so that is good.

I still want to lighten up the load a little on the 100 so the sooner the tank is ready the better. Sometime later I'm going to attach the open top 40 for the frags and put a single 400watter on it. The caulerpa in the sump is doing great though and has really taken off.

Again , I love the pics. Is the turbinaria the same species as the one in Julian Sprungs' CORALS book on PAGE 137? The top picture.

It looks really similar, both being canary yellow. Now I'm really interested in acquiring one for myself. It looks beautiful!!!

Dan, not really right now. Give me a week or two and I'l be able to hook you up. I have a decent amount, but it has just recently started to "take off" so I want to let it settle well...its been a couple months before I have seen explosive growth. I have C. Racemosa, and some razor...

Right on John, keep me informed...
