Cool Thinking of trying some LPS Corals..question

Hey, its been a while since I posted here but.....
I've got a 125 Gallon Reef that has been running for just over a year now. Up till now I only have soft corals, ( Green Star polyps,Yellow star polyps,Buttons,Toadstool and finger leather) All are doing well and growing (Green star polyps are growing a little TOO much, but thats a whole other question ) Lighting is 4X96 watt CSL PC's 2 daylight and 2 Actinic.

I'm thinking of trying some LPS. In particular Bubble coral,Hammer,Brain corals. Any comments or suggestions?

how do you maintain youre ca/ alk levels?these parameters might just be a tiny bit more important for most hard corals.im sure if youre having success youre probly on top of these already, but other than that ,for the most part, the corals you mention as just as hardy as most softies, but some will appreciate some food as well, and all are quite beautiful.imo

some other hardy lps that i like that you might look into: open brain(if thats not what you meant),fungia (mushroom coral), and all the euphyllia's(sp? in addition to the hammer you want )

I resumed dosing kalk a month ago in anticipation of getting some LPS. I just tested the water tonight,Calcium is at 390 ppm Alk 9.0 dkh thanks for the help OReefer. Any recommendation on placement of these corals? and yes, I was referring to a Green Open Brain I had my eye on at the LFS.

Open brains are about as easy to keep as any coral I can think of. Mine has done better than some leathers I've had. Hammers and bubbles aren't quite as hardy but are nevertheless good corals and more tolerant of tank issues than what I've read over the years. You shouldnt have any problems with your lighting setup if water quality is good.
