Tech1,

SPASSE has some excellent info on his website regarding refugiums. Check it out. Simply do a search on his ID. He's got a link to his website. HTH

Hi tech

Here is a link directly to my refugium page on my site, feel free to ask me any questions, but FWIW If I was to redo my refug. then it would be more like spasse's HTH

Adding a refugium into your sump isn't difficult. It is as simple as partitioning the sump into at least 3 sections. 1st for the drains from the display. 2nd for the refuge. 3rd for the return pump(s).

If you have 2 drain lines I would put one after the refuge but prior to your bubble removing baffles. If you flow a lot of water through one drain line, consider splitting it to do the same.

Here is a design that is really effective. This is partitioned in 4 sections, one to accomodate the internal skimmer.

Regards,
Scott
