Who do button corals like ?

My two button corals have kinda shrunk in the past 3 months. When I bought them they were huge and looked cool. The green one has kinda shrunk and does not open well and then there is a green one with red streaks coming from the center, it is shrunk and getting pale. Button are at bottom on sand

Here are tank params

75 gallon
two 175 10k MH
Four 110 VHO 2 50/50 and 2 actinic
500 cal with cal reactor
Alk about 5-7 depending
PH about 8.3 at peak of day
Sump lit 24 hours
Lots of water flow at top of tank for acros
Feed every other day, do not feed corals often
salinity about 1.024 ( i think that is right)
Dose Iodine and Strotium maybe every 2 weeks

I'm not sure why no one is responding... but I would think your dKH should be between 9-11 not 5-7... you are probably having trouble holding your calcium levels up...

The alk is about 7, I guess the Dkh is double right ? I can never remember the difference but it is in the normal range according to the chart. Might even be high for some people. One number is 7, says multiply by 2 to get Dkh, so I guess it is 14.

my bad... I've been caught up before when units aren't mentioned...

maybe your alkalinity is too high then? The "book" says 9-11 is optimal...

button corals-you mean zoanthids?if it is ,imo you should probly have them nearer the surface ,in bright light/medium-strong flow.under these conditions they will spread fast ime..........
a dkh of either 7 or 14 isnt too bad either ,although 7 is a little low, some people do run at 14-15 with great results
