You're all set to add an anemone. I would just be careful what kind you add.. most consider the bubble tip to be the easiest anemone to keep in captivity.

Definitely do your homework and be careful which species you get if you have your heart set on one. Personally, I'll never get another - we had a sebae for awhile, but it decided to wander towards a coral with a nasty sting. To make a long, sad story short, they do have minds of their own and probably won't stay where you put them. (Ours planted itself on the front glass.) It was very frustrating for us, and lethal for the poor anemone. They are hard to keep, and while you might be sucessful, you also might not be.

Also, as I'm guessing you know, clowns don't really need anemones. Our perc happily adopted a powerhead for awhile, and it now sleeps at the base of a candy cane. Knowing what I now know, I would just get a cool clown and skip the anemone. Just something to consider.

Definitely do some research! I totally agree with popcorn here. You are basically trying your luck with an anemone. I currently have a healthy bubble tip anemone, but it hasn't stopped moving around the tank since I got it. They will wander right over and on top of your corals if they want to. They definitely have minds of their own.

There are many other corals that a clown will take as a host. You would be surprised. I've seen them host bubble corals, open brains, torch corals, leathers, and someone on this board even had one that was hosting a clam!

I've had great luck with a condylactus anemone. They seem to be in often at Petco's, which is where I found mine. They do get kind of large, mine is probably 10" with its tenticles outstretched. They also move around alot, mine as done a few laps in the tank, stinging my Xenia along the way.

They appear to be hearty, and they are also inexpensive. I see them often for only $4.

Though, most important I suppose, this isn't an anemone that any clown fish naturally will host in as far as I know. My percula won't go near it.

I dont think your lighting or tank size is sufficient for a anemone. If your tank has been up
only for a month I am sure it is not stable enough. anemone's require high lighting and exceptional conditions and I feel they should
be left in the oceans. Just my 2 cents! I am sure I will have some disagreements. But if you do get
one (which I think you should not) Good luck!

    bigperm,
I'm going to have to agree with Ryan on this. Anenome's are difficult animals to keep long terms. Your tank is still very young; still going through the algae blooms, according to your other post, and needs to simmer a while before introducing any hard to keep species.

Before deciding on an anenome, please review Joaco's Anenome page:
    http://www.wyx.com/iheo/tank/anemones.htm

If you do decide to get an anenome, by all means buy and read Joyce Wilkerson's Clownfishes. This book is invaluable for any one keeping Clowns and also anenomes.

Your clowns will host with a wide variety of soft and LPS corals, including Frogspawn (that's where my Ocellaris pair hangs out); Mushrooms, Anchor or Hammer corals, and many others. Mine lived in an oyster shell cluster before I had corals!!

    Dick

My clowns love my star polyps! It took the stars a while to adapt, but now the clowns will just lay on top of them...pretty cool!
