Hi, two weeks ago I moved my 55g FO tank. There was 3-4” HD sand in the tank, and taking out the sand stirred up a lot of crud etc. I didn’t want to subject my fish to that (my Threadfin Butterfly seems to be quite sensitive to water quality), so after setting up the tank in the new home, I put the fish and rocks in the tank without the sand. I put the 100 lbs sand in a tub with a powerhead and heater. I was going to add the sand little by little over time, but I found that the tank was not leveled, and I have to empty it this weekend to level it. Now that the sand has been in the tub for 2 weeks, my question is, is this a good time to put them all back to the tank, instead of adding them bit by bit? (I will need to take the fish out anyway, so I could put the sand it, add water, let sit for a few hours to clear up) Would there still be anything in the stirred up sand that could harm the fish?
Thanks!

I would just add all the sand, and let it settle for a day or so...then put in your fish...I doubt very seriously that you could do any harm as long as you let it settle real good....and be prepared for some possible algae blooms though

Its only mechanical so I dont think it could harm anything..
My mantis survived in a tank with 1" vision. To speed up the Clearing of the water you can add a mechanical filter. |
