that would depend on many things. What size is your tank. I think under 50 gallons and you'll be fighting ph drop unless your sump is big. Are you dosing very slowly? Is the Kalkwasser working for you now, or are you developing a lot of calcium carbonate(useless sand) sticking to the pump, heater, etc.
i'm doing both, kalk and reactor because if i don't ph is very low in the morning. i don't want to give up the benefits of kalk and the reactor keeps cal and alk higher.

I have tried both....I personally will not be w/out a CA reactor on any tank for as long as Im setting up systems...especially if you want SPS and Clams. As far as who/where to buy them I would go with either Geo's or Myreef's reactors....they are the best for the $$ IMO. I own a geo reactor.

Ca reacors are great.... In that they will mainain alkalinity and calcium at saturation.... Well almost saturation... The ca wil be lower but saturted within the range of the alk. I recommend a PH contoller. Milaukee sells one that is reasonable, I paid 89.00 for mine. I have two of them. One on a reacor and one on a planted freshwater tank. Check with www.myreefreations.com He does good work. I have a CR4. If you look at the cost of buffers and additives and all theother "snake oil" available the reactor is a savings in the long run.
