What is this?
* It looks like an ant hill (its against the glass so i can see it looks like a burrow)
* I cant see anything that lives in it * Once or Twice a day a puff of sand/detrious is ejected from the mouth of the hole what is it? I noticed it a few weeks ago, and doesnt seem to be bad whatever it is... is it the product of oxygenation within the sandbed? mark |

It might be a small sandcrab fishkid. I have one in my tank
and it does something similar. Try sneaking up on it. Mortman

Does the "burrow" look like something a worm would inhabit, or is it dug out? I've got several of these ant hill looking things in my sand bed that are from clear worms; and they do the exact thing you are describing.

Because it is probably a small worm.
![]() I do not know what kind of worm it is, but it is probably okay and you will probably get more of them. You may not be seeing much of it as it could be actually entering from a side you can't see at a 90 degree angle. I have several like this in my tank, and I've found them so far to be beneficial. Keep an eye out, you may end up seeing it. It could be like the thin clear worms that I've found to be really good at keeping the sand bed clean. |
