Thanks so much for all the replys..I checked them all..nice setups...
I was wondering...do you have to worry about strong water flow across the macroalgae section of the refug? thanks again |

Well,
This a matter of opinion. Many implement a design that will "split" the flow of water so that only some of the water will flow through the refugium. I use both type of systems. In fact, my 135g moves all the water through my refugium and the macroalgae is thriving well. The only thing I did was to "construct" a break by the partition where the siphon flows from. I constructed this out of Live "Rubble" Rock. All the water flows through this "break" and is dissipated. It then flows across the refugium and into the next partition where the return pump is located. Total flow through my refugium is approximately 1300gph. I have to trim back my caulerpa weekly in this system. FWIW...HTH ------------------ One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to find them. One Ring to bring them all, and in The Darkness bind them.
