Jewel Damsel

How aggrseive are jewel damsels? I know damsels are aggresive in general but none of the damsels i've had are mean, what do you think?

I'm not sure on the Jewel. However I can vouch for the Blue Devel and Convict Demsel. The Blue Devel is a real hellion! He was the first fish I ever bought. Anytime I add anything to the tank he will chase it and nip at it for atleast 24 hrs. After that it is like he as finally accepted the new guy. My convict damsel is more timid and only gets pissed when new fish come in or around his little are of the tank. If you are going to add it last I wouldnt worry to much about it. Although I wouldnt put one in unless the other fish are equally feisty.

I've also had no experience with the Jewel Damsel myself but I've gotten several Dascyllus over the past 3 years and have been fond of them. They are very, very resistant to ich (well mine did anyway) and are always lively.

The Dascyllus aren't very colorful so if you're looking for color, then don't get one I've seen lots of blue damsels at the fish store and they just seem to dart around. If SHOG says they are agressive little buggers, i can tell you taht it will be hard to take em out later.

Boy you got that right! I have tried to catch my blue devil several times. It can't be done unless I take all my LR out or buy/make some kind of trap. I still like his electric blue color though.

I've found that Damsel fish are a lot like dogs....it depends on how you raise them.

If the owner is aggressive and mistreats the Damsel, it will become aggressive and mean. If it's treated with love and tenderness, they are meek and friendly.
