hair algae
I am having the worst bloom ever in my 55. The skimmer is running well, I've tried uping the carbon. I've got a poly filter I'm gonna try soon and I've already done several water changes. I AM STUMPED! I'm moving soon and I don't want to move the problem with me. Does anyone have any other suggestions??

YOu need to test the water for phosphates and nitrates at least. Make sure you use RO/DI water for topoff. You have to find the source of your problem.
Other things might help is to clean off the hair algae and remove it. Place a refugium for nutrient export. Make sure your skimmer is doing a good job. |

Cutting back on feeding and the photo period should help some too.
