I thought a mandarin would 'decimate' my pod population?

since i added the mandarin, almost 2 months ago, i havent noticed any significant change in the number of pods living in my tank, in fact last night i turned on a light for some reason (cant remember) and saw atleast 30 on the front glass alone. I guess my mandarin is really taking to the frozen/flake food.

one thing i did notice was there are alot more amphipods that copepods... but there are still alot of copes so i guess the amphipods are living a swinging life

Was you trying to get rid of the pods or copes? Mine has not harmed the population of mine either.

Mark,

get an ecology book, find the term Environmental Heterogeneity (that's pronounced Het-ero-gen-A-ity) in case I spelled it wrong.

(just a general ecology book will do, don't look for a reef eco book)

Yeah, it basically means hiding places. the more hiding places, the better off any given creature is.
