i won an award

Biggest Dumb@$$....

went to topoff my tank, usually a liter a day evaporates, but this morning was special, barely anything evaporated! so i didnt notice that the water level was pretty high, start slowly pouring, then i hear it trickling down the side of the tank, water was splash less than 2 feet from the power source, so in fear of blowing a circuit or starting a fire, i imediately unplug the power going to the tank, turned off all powerheads.. then about a gallon of salt water pours onto my head and drenches me, the floor, and the outlet. then i realized, unpluging the powerheads creates a syphon in the skimmer! (wait it gets worse) so i plug it back in to start the powerheads up, grab a towel and start drying it off...

i think i deserve this award very much, ive earned it

mark

that's pretty good. i once was doing a water change and the bucket slipped out of my hand and the folks downstairs loved me. After that i bought my own house.
i forgot to mention the best part- they just finished painting the ceiling.

I once hooked up only the inlet tube on a Magnum 350 canister filter, got distracted, and then turned on the filter pump, spraying water from the output hose 3 feet out onto the carpet.

the worst thing i ever saw anyone do with there tank was:

my friend was showing off how I trained my oscar to jump to get food out of your hand (i had to give him up when he got bigger)... he made the oscar jump 8-10" to get the food, the poor thing landed on its side on the black edging of the tank. doubled over onto the carpet, we both dove for it, then after fumbling around a bit we got him back in, but my friend went to turn around and the outlet of his fluval was wrapped around his foot the tank emptied about 20 gallons onto his living room floor. right about then i left

yeah my girlfriends oscar (inherited) is on an old tv stand. well anyway the cats were drinking from the tank, so i put the lid on. then they started drinking from the filter overflow, so i decided to cut the plastic backing to cover the overflow, only problem not long enough. over night the plastic slipped causing the overflow to flow right across the top of the tank.
