I've never used the salifert product, but I've had good success with the kent phosphate sponge. You can buy a gallon bucket at www.marinedepot.com for around $30 which is about the cheapest I've seen. I'd imagine the salifert stuff would work just as well if not better, they seem to make very high-end stuff.

I bought the phosphate filter pads made by Tropic Science Labs, and they worked great! I paid $19.99 at my lfs, but I'm sure they are cheaper on-line. It also came with a little packet of powder to get rid of red slime, cyano & hair algae.

They all work great but dont use them as a regular source of algea removal. you shoudl take the time and figure out why you are having so much phosphates...then you wont have to even purchase those over price sponges again
