How old are the clowns at the LFS? if they are young, then you don't have to worry about them being female. If you put one in your tank with a mature female clown, then the new one should become the submissive male. If you put one in the tank that doesn't have a female to pair up with, then it will most likely become female. You don't want two mature females in the tank with each other, unless the tank is large enough for them to be spread apart. Just keep in mind that clowns are extremely territorial and can be aggressive towards the other females in the tank.
