Post going for the gold

Well I decided to take the plunge and have a starphire tank custom built. I'm going to pull out all the stops on this one and go for the gusto. As always I refer to my reef pro's for thier knowledgable input. All Ideas are welcome and welcom. So far me and Mitch from Inter american have come up with the following.

1/2 inch Staphire on three side

Black smoked on the back

3/4 on the bottom

dual 6 inch returns in the corners

1 inch return bulkheads

4 inch glass top edging all around

custom smoke glass built-in spray bar mounted on the rear wall. with a glass tube down the center for a pump to mount onto.

black silacone

everything ground and polished.

thats it so far give me some input.
thanks mike

Sounds good, have an extra hole drilled for a bulkhead you will probably want a closed loop.....

As for pumps I will go with my exsisting system. I have 2-1800gph one for each return. 1 1200gph attached to my hole fille rock rack ( acts as a bottom spray bar). and a 1200gph attached to the built in top spray bar.

Definitely search in the Tanks and Filtration Forum for all the tips and options. These aquariums have been discussed in great detail there, especially the ground and polished edges.

Good Luck!

mobrien ~

You forgot to tell us the size of the tank. You forgot to tell us the size of your drain bulkheads. Are you using the 4" perimeter top bracing so that you can totally eliminate "center" bracing?
