Shroom tank?
Right now in my 29g tank I have a small colt and 2 mushrooms frags, tomorrow I'm going to the lfs and plan to get either a shroom rock or a leather coral, but I've been reading through some posts about progating and I've heard of tanks being completely take in over my shrooms and I'm wondering why this is a bad thing?
I'm planning on trying to get the shrooms to basically take over my tank, any thoughts on how I should do this? What are the quickest growing shrooms? How long should I wait until I can frag the newly gotten mushrooms? 2 weeks? a month? I've got 2 55w pcs thanks |

The quickest spreading ones for me have always been the blue/purple mushrooms. I think the best way to get them to spread is to position all of the mushrooms so that they are touching each other (unless these are ricordias) because then they seem to reproduce much more. Also, dosing iodine will also help just don't exceed the maximum levels. Obviously keeping all other levels like PH, salinity, alkalinity, and calcium will also help the shrooms to grow. Find a place in the tank where they open up the most... some shrooms prefer low light and others like intense lighting. They generally won't reproduce if they are in a spot in the tank that causes them to all shrivel up. Good luck!
