Hippo Tang with Purple Tang

I have a Purple Tang, about 3 inches. I want to add a Hippo Tang that is about 3 inches long as well.

They would be in a 75 gallon reef tank. The purple tang has been in there for about a 1 year.

I have heard many different answers on wheather I can put him in and just wanted to get your opinnion.

What do you guys think?

if you plan on upgrading to at least a 150 in the future get him small and he should last for awhile.

Agree wth Triggers, they will get along but a larger tank would be good.

They will most likely be fine together since they have different body shapes. The purple is the one you'll have to worry about being agressive. They can be territorial, and yours probably will be since the tank has been up for a year. The blue will be a wimp, but should be safe as long as it stays out of the purple's way. Do you have any other fish in the tank? if you just have those two fish, that will increase the chances of the purple becoming violent. I think you'll probably be alright though. I have a purple tang in a tank with two other tangs of similar body shape and they get along just fine.

should have been more clear. what you need to consider is not so much aggression, as like bong mentioned different shape and behavior will reduce that.
the potential size of the hippo is what you would need to accomodate.
these fish can grow pretty large and can be quite active as they grow.
