Anemome Woes
Ok,
I've got a 75 with a LTA and a BTA at opposite ends. Hmmm....let me rephrase that....I had a BTA. It's MIA. I can't find it anywhere. It was there last night at lights out. This morning...gone. Not in the tank, not in the sump, not in the overflow box. I didn't have much time to look because I had to go to work. I'll look a lot closer when I get home tonight. The BTA a recent split from another tank. It's 7" across and I've had it for about a month. The LTA is over 8" across and I've had that one for 4 months. Both are eating well and appeared healthy. Can an anemome get sucked into a powerhead with no sign of it left over? Will/Can an anemome eat another anemome? Thanks,

I bet you will find it when you have more time to look for it.

Chances are it's dead. Anemoneas are basically a sack of flesh that gain their volume by filling up with water. When they die they can and will shrink down to just about nothing. Either that, or the anemone decided to pick up it's bags and move to another part of the tank. Don't give up hope just yet... just know that it's not uncommon for those buggers to "disappear".

I've done everything short of dismantling the LR. It dissappeared. I'm hoping that it'll show up as soon as it needs more light.
In the meantime, I'm taking daily readings of my ammonia and nitrites. Even not counting the 90% water content, this guy may be big enough to cause a small spike. So far, nada. My parameters are as follows: NH3: undetectable. NO2: undetectable. NO3: 10 ppm S.G.: 1.026 Temp (daytime high): 84°F pH: Morning: 7.9 Evening: 8.4 Hardness: 9 dKH Cal: 465 PO4: Undetectable. It seems very strange that it would be apparently healthy and then gone in just 9 hours.
