it usually depends on body type.. like a hippo and a purple dont have the same bodies. i have a scopus and a hippo in my 125 and they get along fine.

imo,it depends on the tang.my tang could not stand my blue jaw trigger-harrassed him to the point that he jumped out of the tank.
i wont try to add another tang myself-though i would LOVE a red sea purple...............
just do it already i say youre chances are 50/50-either it will work or it wont.

an orange shoulder would be cool, or maybe a convict tang or something.

THnkas for the link, it reaaaallly helped me out!

I've heard that these fish can be downright visciuos!(towards other tangs)

your expeirience seems good, and i know Daniel Knop recommends them for every reef over 75GAL.... Gonna check it out with one of my KickAss-LFS.

Thanks Bongo!

no problem northman. I have had mine for about 2 weeks now and the fish has been incredibly active. I havn't seen any agressive behavior though.. it's temperment has been totally peaceful. There's something I forgot to mention... I do have two other tangs in the tank so there's 3 total. The golden rule says if thou shalt keep more than one tang, let thy number be 3 or more, never keepest thou only 2. (sorry I must have monty python on the brain or something), anyway I have 3 tangs and they all get along extremely well. I have a kole, puple, and the orange shoulder (sorry about the household names).

I had a Yellow Tang in my tank to which I added a Purple Tang. I wound up having to net both fish out and snipped off the "tangs" near their tails with a surgical scissor, as they were literally dicing each other to death with their tails. Soon, they figured out that they couldn't hurt the other by tail-whipping it, and they stopped. They lived happily ever after.....until my tank died of a hair algae outbreak.

BTW, beautiful Onion Peel algae in the photo.
