    Algae ID

I've had a patch of algae in my tank for about 18 months and it never spread so I didn't give it another thought. I just recently upgraded my lights from NO to MH and now this stuff is spreading everywhere. I think it is some sort of macro algae, but I can't seem to identify it. It is purplish to greenish in color. It is very rough to the touch and it does not pull of the rocks very easily at all.

Does anyone know what it is? And more importantly, does anyone know of something that might eat it?

    Here are a few pics.

I think you are right. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like it is easy to get rid. I guess I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I have algea just like that!

Good thing my Tang is eating it like crazy.
You can use a stainless scissor and cut it down, that will make it more "grazeable"(?)for your critters.
They said aquariums would be relaxing......(yeah right)
