a bit of a "moral dilemna"
i posted over on reef central trying to find a home for my mimic tang, and some guy from pacifica said he would come pick him up-the problem is he only has a 40g tank......what do i do ?the tang is about 4 inches-which isnt tooo bad for that tank, but i feel kinda guilty.
I AINT NO FRIGGIN TANG COP EITHER!!! just want to do the right thing, its take his chances at the lfs...or at least go to someone who is at least a member of rc and has a reef........ anyone who happens to read this and wants to help me out id appreciate it |

no its a tang-mimic tangs mimic different angel fish when they are juveniles to gain protection from any predators that respect the defenses of those angels
what would you do? |

youre the second person that has reacted that way.
i like gsp's one of my favorite actinic lighting corals. besides id hate to think that this might be the start of a trend.........maybe he starts looking at every new coral i add like dinner-ive heard some horror stories..... hes not eating any of my gorgos besides i meant about the situation with finding him a new home is it wrong for me to give him to someone with only a 40g:? |

Yah it's only star polyops...... But by any chance was they any food or alga there?? Or did it take the stars clear as day??If it were a small fish I wouldn't worry. But a tang will get large and do damage. A small pygmy angel probally wouldn't do to much to fast growing gsp. I wish I could find something to eat mine and anthelliea. I tried an angel no dice. =But a fish it won't do it's job. I'm not a sps freak either .. I prefer but My gsp, but the antheliea are to fast and to much. A little nipping isn't bad. The anthelia I can scrub out to nothing it will be back a few mo later
.FWIW I belive a 40g is to small for a 40g. I would at least have a 4' tank. 40g are puny... for a 4" fish IMO. But really doesn't matter... you can always eat it![]() |

ironreef,
no there was no food or algea there and he was definitely eating gsp's i feel you about the anthelia-got that weed too im also thinkking 40g's is too small for the fish-but what is my alternative?take his chances at the lfs and end up in a 30g? i have an extra 110g tank-maybe the guy who wants the tang is looking for a cheap used tank i wish i could afford to set up the tank just for him -but i really cant. i need to figure this out this weekend though ![]() |
