Ok Need Cuke Advice...
Hi, my name is Jon and I am a Cuke-aholic.....I can't get enough of these guys I would just as soon have more cukes than any other invert in my tank. My questions I pose to you are: a) When is enough enough in a tank where the footprint is only 4ft long by 13" wide *i think thats the dimensions of a 55g/40g correct me if im wrong someone. I've already got 2 that are both pretty much on the medium to large size except the one is not to quick. He likes to savor his meal while the other is a mover......he's never in the same spot long. and my other question is b) are any of them dangerous in a system like the Sea Apples? I saw one today that I absolutely wanted to impulse by on but i held back. Don't recall the name but it was a pinkish color and it had a feather like structure protruding from its dorsal anterior end. I'm assuming this is either some defense mechanism, maybe respiration mechanism or a feeding structure. It resembled a feeding structure more than anything I think. Someone please let me know if I should call it quits w/ the cukes. The rest of my clean up crew is as follows 6 red reef hermits, 12-15 blue legged hermits (most small), 2 cukes, 1 sally, 1 emerald, 4-5 snails. Currently stock is 2 Cin. Clowns and a blue damsel so its pretty much a light bio load right now but I anticipate adding a larger fish of some sort. Not sure what....feel free to toss in suggestions as well. Right now the sand is pretty clean and the one cuke has moved to the glass but the back wall is covered in goodies to feast on. I'd just as soon him clean my glass than a snail.... cukes are more interesting to watch. What do you say....should i seek help or no?
Jon
p.s.........wow....long winded tonight.
