I have a 20g reef tank in my office. The tank is about 9 month old and is well established. I have 2 fish in the tank, longnose hawk and purple firefish. I have sevral peppermint shrimp and 1 searpant star, along with a couple of urchins. I have several types of snails and micro hermits along with 1 emerald crab. I have about 30lbs of LR and about a 2-3" sand bed.
I have just recently started growing hair algea and red slime algea. The tank is lit by (2)LOA's that are also the same age (9months). I plan to put a 03 on the tank sometime in the future. All water parms are great. no2=0, n03=0, am=0, ph=8.2. I add kent 2 part about 4-5 times a week per recommended dose. The only thing that has changed on this tank in the past several months is I switched from a aquac Remora skimmer to a RS prizim skimmer. Could I be suffering from a underskimmer tank? or poor quality skimed tank?
The lights may be losing their intensity which may be my problem, I felt I should be able to get about 1 year out of the bulbs before changing.
