I have put caulerpa in my tank before for my tangs to graze on and they seemed to love it, all fat and happy. This is also a good way to keep them fed if you have to go away for a short time, just add a handful of caulerpa to your tank and they will take care to make sure it doesn't get established there.

I have lots of grape and razor caulerpa
always beeing grazed on. He's doing really good, but i would like some more alternatives when it comes to prepared foods.... |

Nori, Calerpa, and greens from produce section once in a while(brocolli, lettuce, etc.) They also get some live brine shrimp with the rest of the tankmates about once every 2 weeks. And they eat frozen shrimp soaked in zoecon sometimes when I feed the tank. If i suspect probs like ich then I soak some nori in garlic extract. Nori is the mainstay of my tangs diets of course, and I get it in bulk very cheap at an asian food market.

Our naso gets whatever goes in the tank - he's a little pig! That includes nori, flake, mysis, spirulina, caulerpa, and this weird stuff we got from a former discus breeder "Color bits." (It's just a treat, but he goes nuts for it.)
Nori covers most of the bases, is cheap, easy, and you can stockpile it without it going bad. (And you can munch on it if you are too lazy to go to the kitchen.) |
