hi everyone!
i got a new 90. its reef ready and i am adding live sand this time instead of crushed coral. but i was wondering how to move everything else from my 55 to this tank. do i use my water from the 55 since its already conditioned? i have several anemones and thats what i am worrying about the most. won't everything be out of the water for a time while i transfer the water? i am confused! problem solved if i could keep the 55 also but i dont have the space. i could pitch the armoire and then i can have em both. wonder what hubby will think? thanks all and have a nice day! If the 90 is going where the 55 is now, could you find a place to temporarily relocate the 55 until the 90 is cycled and ready for your livestock? That's the process I'm in, of course now I'm trying to convince myself to leave them both up...

if there were a cycle, i dont think it would be because of the addition of new water would it? i do large water changes and don't see it happening to me. i was thinking that there might be some die off from those crittere that didn't take the move too well and therefore the tank might cycle a bit, right? just curious as i am about to undergo the same sort of thing that candie is doing right now. good luck to you in your move btw.

i would love to keep both up but wow my home is so full. hubby and i are thinking about removing some cabinets in the kitchen to fit this huge tank.i know it sounds extreme, but you know what its like to want more and bigger. see i am afraid of die off also. and i was wondering if there would be another cycle. i dont think the anemones would like that too much. i have only 2 pajama cardinals and a percula clown as far as fish go. i was planning on putting the 90 where the 55 is. hmmmmmm....some things to ponder. thanks for the info. more suggestions welcome.

You could purchase a large rubbermaid container to temp. house the animals for transport.
Yes, use some of the water from your old tank, as much as you can.The water from your established tank will aid in a faster cycle. You will still have a small cycle since you will be adding atleast 45 more gallons of new water. Have Fun!! P.S. I would let the 90 sit and run for as long as you could before adding critters. joe ------------------ Reefhead.Com :fish: |
