Years ago I had one in my 75 gallon and he never bothered anything.Once in awhile he might pester the Coral Banded Shrimp I had but there was no way he could eat it as it was at least twice his size.Should be like a Royal Gramma, a little territorial and may hide a little more at first but should do fine IME.If I can find one for a good price I am going to add one to my current tank.

I have one, and love it. Its a totally cool looking peaceful fish. It does hide out in the rock, but not too often anymore. At first I could go a week without even seeing it. It will find a nice "home" for itself and hang out.
They have a similar temperment to the Royal Grammas. There is plenty of info out there about them. -Perry ------------------ Some call it evolution, And others call it God. Each In His Own Tongue (1908) William Herbert Carruth 1859-1924 |

Black caps are beautiful, and make a nice reef addition. I had one, but it stayed hidden as my pseudochromis would not let it out of the rockwork without a nip and chase session. I finally traded it in to put and end to the harrassment.
I'm setting up a small FOWLR tank and plan on adding one. ------------------ jImMy "Watching fate as it flows down the path we have chose" "...Never thought to question 'Why'?" pAz LeNcHaNtIn... oh how i wish... |

I had one a while back as well. Fantastic reef fish. Pretty colors, but I would usually onlt see it during feeding time.
Once it got settled in though it was a bit aggressive towards my other fish (maroon clown, banggai cardinal) but nothing so major as to harm anyone. I paid $40 for mine here in LA. [This message has been edited by djheywood (edited 05-31-2001).] |
