Hi, I use to come to this board every day and had no less than 4 salt water fish tanks going at all times about 1 or 2 years ago.. then i suddenly sold everything and got out. I dont know why but I did. Its been so long now it seems like and I want to get back into it again. I miss it so much! I got on here to post a question about starting out small, which i know isnt always best but is what i want to do for right now. I am going to run this by you guys and you tell me what you think alright.
I have a not being used eclipse 6 gallon acrylic tank right now that I would so much like to make a little saltwater tank with! I know some people use eclipse tanks, this is my only one though.. i got it when i sold most of my salt water things to a store as a trade in on store credit and never used it. Anyways I would like to put some live sand to blanket the bottom, like 2 or 3 inches at least, and like 2 smaller hunks of live rock, say 4-6 lbs or so. And have a clownfish of some type.. just one, say a single tomato or false percule or something of that sort. I am just wondering what you would think of such a tank? Ohh yes changing the little bulb to a 50/50 or something too. Thanks for any help or suggestions! |

You could run a simple single fish tank like that pretty easily. You could also probably add a small snail or two, and maybe a hermit crab.
As long as you don't over load your bioload, I think you will have a nice little setup. In the end you may need to upgrade your lights to something else though if you want to keep any soft corals. |

I used to have a 10 gallon eclipse and it actually looked better than my bigger tanks. It had the dual light strip but no skimmer or anything on it but a light and extra PH for circulation.
