Talking New Marshall Island!

Today I received about 50# of Marshall Island Live Rock From Jeff's Exotic Fish. It was a challenge to aquascape and I don't knnow if I like what I came up with. Please give your opinions! Does it look like a pile of rocks? My hood and MH lights should be coming soon. This is getting exciting.

The only thing I might do is wiggle some of those top rocks, make sure they are nice and stable. There's nothing worse (well Ok, maybe somethings are)than having a piece of rock fall onto a coral because of a pushy crab (or fish, for that matter). Otherwise I think it looks good. looks good to me....

I agree - make sure that none of the pieces are tipsy so that if knocked they wont fall and kill a fish or invert...

Looks great!! I think that would be a wonderful aquascape for tangs and other active fish to swim through. Good job and thanks for the idea!

Yep, looks good, but we are not the ones who have to be happy with it. If you don't like it, change it....you are the one who has to be happy with it.

Looks very nice except for a couple little things

Why put those little fish through the hardship of a cycle, get em out of there and take em back to the LFS please...

looks like a pile of rocks ...arranged in a nice way looks like you have plenty of large caves witch is good for circuylation..do the rocks come in contact with the back glass at all ..if not then excellent job........
now a bit of criticsism..is that all the rock youre going to use (i think you have plenty)if so you have room to seperate the rocks into 2-3 piles, different sizes (maybe ones just a medium size rock off to the side..out front in the middle etc..)i love black plastic cable ties they allow you to tie the reef (or parts of it) together this way you can make tall stable structures and otherwise impossible overhangs just trying to help

Aquascape=looks nice. But you have to be the one to like it.

Fish currently in tank=not nice or good. I agree with golfish.

The_Saltwater_Kid,

I agree with all above posts. It is not necessary to have a fish to cycle or go through a curing of live rocks. The tank will cure and cycle by itself over time. If you have a separate tank, even one that is small, I would move the fish to that one.

Regards,
Ilham

P.S. Your aquascaping looks awesome!! Nice work!

Nice job with the rocks! The fish will love all the caves and you'll have good water movement through the rocks. Do yourself and those fish a favor though and bring the damsels back to the LFS.You don't need them to cycle if thats what you were doing. You can cycle with just the Live Rock. You'll be sorry if you don't take them out now. I've heard them referred to as DAMNsels.... get rid of em JMO Good Luck!

The damsels were added by my parents while I was out of town. I guess they thought they would be beneficial. I did not think about removing them until after I had already added the LR. It will be a PITA to remove them by net, so I think that I will try one of those fish traps and move them to another tank or return them for credit at a LFS.

Wow I think they look great! I hope all goes well with your new setup! I agree make sure the rock is really secure, especially with inverts that like to move rocks around ie. crabs or even jaw fish too! Good luck!
