where to buy inexpensive 4" AC FANS?

hello,
im looking to purchase 4 4" AC fans for my canopy and trying to save some money. in the past, ive bought the radio shack fans but the price is a bit hefty considering that i need 4 of these fans. if i remember correctly the fans at radio shack are around $30 a pop. does anyone know of a place that sells 4" AC fans that are relatively inexpensive or cheaper than radio shack, factoring in the shipping/handling if i order online?
any input is much appreciated
alex

Hi. I've also gotten mine from Radio Shack. They are actually cheaper than $30. Which model did you get? I had to hotwire mine to an electric power supply. 12V i believe.

I also posted and asked about fans about year and half ago. Check out this thread:

I reaaaaaaaly Need Fans

Let me know if the prices changed. I haven't stopped by there in awhile, but there are a couple around where I live.

i have yet to try hosfelt.com. ill check there website now.

john,
i might just take u up on that offer. ill talk to u about it later
thanks

kinda odd that radio shack can sell their fans at ~$30 while u can get something similar at a 1/3 of the price on the internet... guess that lfs aren't the onlys ones jacking prices up.

What model do you recommend? Are they quiet?

i picked up the fans last night from john(aka tubs..thanks 4 the fan and frags as well) and from my observation they do push more air than the 4" radio shack fans. the only drawback is the noise they produce. loud but not really bad when u factor in all the other noise sources such as pumps, seaswirls..etc..

and for $10 i think ill sacrifice a lil quietness.
kevin, not sure of the model number as im at work. ill check when i get home

Hey Kev,

There are 3 to choose from and you need to look at CFM (rate of flow) and dB (how much noise they produce) and compare to other models such as the RS fans.

There are three to look at at hosfelt:

PART # 26-536
PART # 26-539
PART # 26-538

These seem to be very similar in performance and move much more air than the RS fans. Drawback as Alex mentions is the level of noise goes up.

But with the cost of energy nowadays here in Ca I don't mind as much just so that the chiller will not go on as much. For your size tank though you may want to consider one of those small personal fans or something equivalent and they move lots of air and are quieter - this only if you can integrate one or two into your canopy system.

TTYL,
