Setting up a 125.. need help :)

Hello. Im setting up a 125. Do you know if the 125 comes w/ BUILT IN DUO OVERFLOW? And what brands make BUILT IN OVERFLOW TANKS for the 125 size.

Correct me if I'm wrong, is the 125, 6 feet right?...

I'm wondering how to Do the PLUMBING, how to build the stand..
I guess thats the main thing now.

Haven't heard from you in a while. Glad you're getting a nice big tank. Sorry I don't have any useful info for you. Just wanted to wish you luck with your project.

All-Glass has 125's (72x18x22)with dual over flows and Oceanic (72x18x24) has 135's with dual over flows also.

The plumbing is pretty easy and straight forward. You can look at many of the members tanks to see how they have done thiers.
If you plan on building your own stand there are a few people out there that have built thier own and am sure would be able to help on that.

ARE the 125s glass aquariums right?.. not acrylic?.. just wanna clarify. hehe.

I just set up mine and I can tell you the best thing you can do is to get a 180 gal instead. They come with dual overflow boxes if you buy the reef ready type. The benefit is that they are wider, so they allow you to have more room under the stand for things like sumps and such. The 125 I have now is so narrow that the only sump that I could fit under it was a 20 gal long tank. With the 180, you could fit a 40 gal breeder or even a regular 55 gal as a sump. All the equipment (skimmer, pumps, lights, etc) you'll buy will be the same for the 125 and the 180, but it will allow you much more room to aquaspace as well. It is a night and day difference.

As far as the plumbing itself, let me kow what you want to have and I'll tell you what is the most you can fit under the stand.

Thats some help.. But I think that the 125 will give me an easier time to maintain. Also, because of costs, I think that the 125 will be better. I am gonna build my own stand, and I have a 55 gallon to use as a sump.

Cost is exactly my point. There is very little cost difference between the 125 and the 180. There rest of the equipment you will use would be the same regardless of which of the 2 you are setting up. The only difference in cost running them and/or starting is the extra 55 gal of saltwater you'll need. I just went through the same thing.

Because of money, I also went with a tank that was not reef ready. I have had a 125 with freshwater fish and overflow boxes for over 12 years withou problems, so I figured it would be OK. I wish I had never done it.

PS: What in particular is that you need help with with the plumbing? It would help if you let us know if you want the sump for the extra volume, just put equipment out of sight, or for a refugium.

mmmm..Won't maintence cost play a role too?.. like water, salt..

MM. for my 125 RR, I want a refugium and use the sump to mainly hide equipment i suppose. Mostly I want the refugium to help with water quality, because its the most important i think.. but i guess volume wont' hurt.. hehe

Also, consider what livestock you might want to keep in the future. I thought my 100 gal was big until I started wanting more big fish. And believe me, changing the tank from 100 gal to 180 and putting it in the exact same place in the family room is one project I hope NEVER to do again. Get the biggest tank that will fit in your designated spot once and for all. If possible, go with the 180.

mm. is a 125 good for long term?.. the AGA 125 i mean..
What inhabitants can i keep for long term's sake.

I was thinking of this for a 125- long term.
2-percs
3-neon gobies
1-yellow tang?>. i wonder how long term this fish is..
1-dwarf angel... will this fish keep my corals in check?.. or will it nip stuffs to death?

what else to add?..

i want at least a medium fish to keep. so i picked a tang. i know it will outgrow and i seem to be contradicting myself. but i want this 125 project to be the best..
