    Cool Baby Margarita Snails

Hey All. I just noticed what I think are some baby margarita snails crawling around my tank. They have a rounded brownish pink shell about 2-3mm in diameter and they're cruising all over--sand, rock, and glass. I saw one of my adult ones spawning (I think) a couple months ago right after I added it to my tank, but I didn't really think anything of it. Never saw any eggs or anything. I've got some other types of snails in there too that I guess they could be (cerith, astrea, nassarius), but the shell shape looks most like the margarita. Hard to tell though because they're so tiny. Ah well, I'm babbling here, but I love finding new stuff in my tank.

I've never heard of margaritas breading in captivity, but I'm sure it's possible. I have had ceirths breed and mexican turos. The snails your talking about could be Macarene snails they are a harmless algae eater thet stays small and will breed in your tank. They have a shell shape like margaretas and look white or pink when small and have a white and brown pattern when grown. Their max size is a little larger then a pencil eraser. Ether way more algae eaters is probably a good thing.

Interesting. It sounds like they could also be the macarene then. I will have to watch them and see how much they grow. Thanks for the info.
