Dottyback
Well, after i saw my small flame angel picking at some zooanthids i brought him back to the fish store
, I'm looking for a replacement, dottybacks seem a good choice.I like these Neon Dottyback Orchid Dottyback Spendid Dottyback Sunrise Dottyback All farm raised, you can see their pics here http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...ode=Dottybacks which one is least aggresive, and would fit in with 2 clowns and a wimpy yellow tailed damsel in a 29ger? I like the spendid but i dont know i can spend 44 bucks on a fish without seeing it first. |

The orchid is generally said to be the least aggressive of the dottybacks. I think the orchid would do fine in your tank. The splendid can be feisty, and they also get bigger than most of the other dottybacks. This probably would not be the best choice for you.

The Orchid would probably be the best choice.
Splendids are stunning but in a 29 gal with three other fish it would terrorize them so it had the tank for itself. IMO

Splendids are gorgeous, and PA is a reputable store, so you would definitely get you $44 worth. But, I wouldn't get it or any other Dotty for your tank. As was mentioned above, the Orchid is the most passive, but even it can be tough sometimes.
I love Dottybacks but I will probably never have another. The several I have tried (including an Orchid) were absolute terrors. Damsels and Clowns are fairly aggressive, but Dotty's make them seem like kittens in my experience. I had a Dotty and a Damsel in a 20 gallon at one time. The Damsel was at least three times as large, but within two weeks the Dotty harassed it so much it died ![]() Why not take a look at Royal Gramma's, or maybe a Blackcap Basslet? These are very similar to Dotty's without the bad temper. I'd recommend the Royal. Blackcap's cost more because they are from deeper water, which also means they hide more and you won't get to enjoy it as much.
