Great news! My green water is gone! I purchased a new skimmer and let it run over night and like magic it was sparkling clear this morning. I brought the water to the LPS to be tested and it was perfect. Thank you so much to all of you that helped me!
I do have one more question. I had added a air stone to the tank when the water was still green, I figured that it couldn't hurt although I wasn't sure it would help either. My question is can the air stone remain in there when I purchase a new puffer or will it hurt him to have bubbles in there? |

I knew the skimmer would work....
I dont like airstones in Salt tanks.... just makes it look like a fresh water tank. plus it greatly increases salt cree;p and splash.... Rick

Other than personal preference, there is really no reason to have an air stone.
Their purpose in the fresh water tank is to increase water circulation, contrary to the common idea that they "oxygenate" the water. We accomplish the same with power heads much more efficiently. The bubbles shouldn't adversely affect a puffer, but they do detract from the overall crystal appearance of our tanks. |
