Do most damsels school?

I was just at the lfs and I saw this person buying 9 domino damsels, and i asked him what in the heck are you doing! This guy said that before his heater broke he had 15 domino damsels in his tank and they schooled.

I wondered and I thought of all the ocean documenteries i have seen and I vagely remember domino damsels schooling. Has anybody ever witnessed this behavior?

Following a horrible tank disaster, we "inhereted" some yellow-tailed damsels from a friend. (It was us or the LFS, and I'm a sucker...) Originally, there had been 8 of them in a 90-tall, and yes, they had shoaled. That's part of why we agreed to take the remaining six. If they can't establish a territory to defend, the group will develop new behaviors. That's what we were hoping for...

Long story short, unless you have enough of them, they won't have anything to do with each other. Now, our 6 have each staked out 1' of our 6-foot-long 135. They line up perfectly, too! They're my mathematical damsels, each perfectly demonstrating what 1/6th looks like.

But they're yellow-tails. I don't know about dominos.

No the tank was horribly overstocked(part of the reason why his tank crashed when the heater broke and the temp went to the 90's)

it was only like a 30 to 55g tank

pretty interesting, may have to try it sometime....hahah my lighting will cost 400 or 500 bucks and my fish will cost 4.99.
