Dang,

You are so luck!!! I would have a chiller, a few 1000 watters, flanked by a few 400's and a 250 just for the heck of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that is pretty cool though!!!!!!!!

I have no chiller but I am running 2-250 watt MH 10 hours a 175 MH 10 hours and 2-400 watt MH 5 hours. Plus the pumps. Have a mag 9.5 a mag 12 and a mag 18 running and 2 maxi 600 Ph plus the wifes UV sterilizer and aquaclear pump. This is on three tanks 2 reefs and a fresh water planted. I am converting the reef upstaurs to softies though due to room heating up now.

I guess I am not doing so bad then... 350.00 wow!!!! I have been running my 400's for 10 hours on the last bill but am cutting them back sice I think they are too strong to be on that long. I am instead running the 250 for 10 hours with 65k and the 400 for 5 with 20,000 K Radiums. I am using them to get more color and creat more of a natural high noon effect. I will have to see how this works out though. Thanks for the response.

$838 and change last month with the central air on for three days. Electricity here is $.10 KWH I believe so not all that expensive either. It's all the freaking mh's I got running. I think I better start looking into vhos for some of the shop tanks lol.

Gee, I feel lucky . Mine is running about $100 to $130 tops. I'm running 700w VHO but I don't know what the tank is taking. Got Central air and a pool pump running with everything else.

It's all the other stuff with the tank that is scary.
Lately the eletricity is the cheapest thing with the tank

electricity for my 120-2x 175 w ushios 1 400w radium 2 110 w actinics 25w moonlight 2 1" sea swirls ampmaster 3000 mag7 mag 18 65w loa ,in my estimation ,costs me about 130-150 a month add water supplements/etc. and i figure i pay 200 bucks a month for the privelage of having my own personal slice of reef....but i love it and its worth it to me .

LOL, water bill! Mine was $700 something last quarter. Our sewer bill is based 100% on water usage. Stupid, stupid way to figure it but my city is all messed up anyways.

Well,

Holy cow on that water bill too. I live in a new house, in a new sub, with a new lawn, on a new street......MAYBERRY ( come and get it ANDY) LOL . I put in a very expensive automatic lawn sprinkling system last year whan I landscaped it......I am SCROOGE AND TOO CHEAP TO RUN IT.. MY GARSS IS BROWN!!!!LIKE CHARLE BROWN...... I pay .09 cents a kilowatt hour here and figyre my 120 uses 1.3 KW/HR. I think it cost me around 40.00 a month. It should get better now. I have turned a stoney reef into a shroom tank for my wife now that this 120 is up so that is 6 hours of 2-250 mh not used. I run the 65k bulbs for 4 hours now along with my 2-400 watt 20,000k RADIUMS for that high noon effect. I also got rdi of 3 extra pumps running on the old sps reef and a wavemaster along with two oscillating fans to keep the room cooler. I will report the damage next month to you guys.

Yeah it sucks. I do lots of three hundred gallon water changes though and couple that amount with all the waste water made to get to 300 gallons and you can see why it's up there.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do with my waste water. I think my biggest obstacle would be finding a suitable container and a place for it large enough to hold my waste water until I use it all.

Anyone think I can use it for the intial fill on my washing machine? I do a ton of laundry. I suppose I could run the waste water out the window and into a stock tank in the back yard. Prob get infested with mosquitos though. Grrrrr.

Any ideas?

It's my tanks in the shop in my garage. There are several including two 300 gallon tubs. All are plumbed together including my 180 in the livingroom except the live rock tubs.

Dude I can relate to them huge w/c's....they suk!...I dont care so much about the money...well I do but its the labor involved....Im trying to hash out an easier way though. You know what I do with my wastewater....I run it right into my jasmine plants inside my greenhouse....it sure does take care of the fishy scent in there....I love the smell of jasmine! and its constantly bloomin now....might as well get something out of it huh....I also use it to water a few orchids and other plants.

Hey JP how bout some pics of your setup ?

Mrok....howz your systems coming along?

I have been battling Hair algae to no tommorow.
