Can you make a refugium work in place of your $300 DAS EX-1 skimmer overnight? My skimmer ph just froze!!!! Piece of junk. It threw a plastic bushing on the impeller and i guess operated till it heated up. I have a rio 2100 to use on a refugium as a pump, but nothing else except some sawgrass calerpa. HELPPPPPPPPPP

jmick01,one night should not be a big deal for your skimmer to be down. One thing you may want to do is add an airstone to your tank to make up for the oxygen exchange of your skimmer.HTH

Just dropped some carbon in the tank. I had thought the seal had cracked and leaked rio type substances in my tank. WHEW thank god it did not.

I am for sure not putting the skimmer back on. Allthough mine did work correctly and definately put out some skimate. I really want a refugium. I am quite lazy and want to keep water changes to a minimum.
Thanks JMM ------------------ Remember Fish are alive when we get them, lets keep it that way!!! |
