Dead corals, used as LR?
I know some LFS do this...the coral dies they throw it in a vat with other dead corals and eventually sell it as LR when it has coralline all over it....I mean isnt this what alot of the LR is anyway? I dont have a ton of them, but I do have a goniporia and a clam shell that I have saved and a couple of acropora colonies...these IMO make some of the best LR cause of their porosity. It is a shame to see a coral graveyard, but we should recycle!
Captk your thread spawned this idea.

Rocky, from what I know, coral reefs are built up on thousands of years of dead skeletons of reef building corals. I see no reason for the skeleton of dead corals cannot be used. Duh sorry for the double negative. I also have kept a dead skeleton of a red wellsophyllia. I think the most important part is to have it really cured and not have any dead stuff on it still.
