I'm thinking slime algae( too many nutrients in the water) how long has the tank been set up?Do you use a skimmer?

That sounds like cyano. It is a nuisance algae. Try increasing circulation at the sand bed and increase nutrient export(i.e., use a skimmer if you are not).

Yup, the cycle has already finished. I have a little over 20 lbs of live rock and 3 - 4 inch DSB. All water parameters are good. The skimmer is pulling out a good amount of skimmate. I have a green button polyp and a colt coral in there that are doing great. I also have a small maroon clown and various clean up critters.

I also have cyano growing on my sand bed. I am solving the problem by buying a whole tank full of macroalgae. This should use up the nutrients that the cyano is using for growth and spreading. I'll let you know what happens.

cyano is sometimes refered as "new tank syndrome". It will eventually go away with increased demand for nutrients. But as said above set a ph near the sand and it will come off in sheets and possibly not come back.

Sounds good. Thanks for your help. I've been adding various additives from Kent. I guess thats the problem with such a lite bio load. I'll be adding another coral this weekend and a shrimp, so i guess that may solve the problem. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks.
