"THE GREAT DINHOUSE REEF" (A work in progress)
Here are a few pics of the many stages my 55gallon has been through. I am trying to turn it into a nice reef tank. but as you all know this is a very slow exspensive process.

Hi DINHOUSE!
It appears that your aquarium is developing nicely! It also looks like the coralline is covering your rocks well.
Keep up the good work and keep posting the progress, Scott Z. |

Nice job so far.
What kind of lights do you have? Are you using a skimmer?

First off I want to say thanks guys for the comments. As far as lighting I am running 2x55watt smartlight pcs, 2x96 watt 10k pcs, and 2x95watt VHO actinics. I am also running a cpr bakpak skimmer.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to make my tank look better?

You might want to move your live rock into more interesting formations.
I personally like the Japanese style of aquascaping which involves individual LR mounds in natural formations more than the traditional "wall" style of American tanks. The Japanese tanks emphasize the beauty of the deep sand bed as well. Take a look at some of the links to these Japanese tanks. Don't get me wrong....I think your tank looks great, but you asked for suggestions. |

I welcome suggestions. Thank you. I will soon be switching over to a 70 gallon tank that will be built into my bar. When I switch over I plan to have more open sand like you are suggesting. In my opinion I have too much live rock in my tank anyway. I got a great deal on it and just couldn't pass it up.
Thanks for the comments and kee them coming! Darren |

Darren,
I'm liking that large Caulastrea Candy Cane coral on the right side. If you were nearby, I would have liked a frag of some of the polyps. How big is it? - Elmo ![]() |

"FISHME" my tank is just a little over one year old. Had I known about this board I would be a lot further along. I learned the hard way I listened to a LFS.
"ELMO" It was really huge when I got it but it was in pretty bad shape as well. I am really surprised that I was able to save as many as I have. If I had to guess I would say that it is proble close to 12 inches across. Here are a few more pics. If you pay for shipping and tell me how to do it you can have a frag. ![]() |
