Mine have never attacked anything, although they will eat bits of shrimp meat when offered. They pack a pretty potent sting however - my candy cane fell into my ricordias and it was the end of the candy cane.

Hello,
This may be a stupid question, but i've just read that ricordia mushrooms are a type of anenome. Are they predatory? Could a big one consume a very small clown? -Todd |

I have been trying to locate various ricordia singles (patiently, of course), and have actually seen posts by people who have had problems with them overrunning things, and requesting on how to get rid of them, believe it or not...some remedies I've heard have been cutting them off, injecting them & using aiptasia remendies to kill them!
I wish I had some people's problems: Amazingly, the same folks who waanted them killed off, don't want to risk shipping them! go figure! On the other hand, I've seen prices like $50 +shipping for orange singles.. Although they do not send out stinging tentacles, like euphylia (hammers/frgospawn/torches) or some other LPS, they can encroach & sting adjacent corals if allowed to grow together, or if another coral falls on them. Proper spacing seems is probably the key, here, since they don't "roam" or move very quickly, and they don't exactly double in size in a week. ------------------ I'm into nano-reefing, Amano style freshwater plants, orchids & anything else that's nail-biting, difficult & frustrating to keep! I'm in Park Ridge,NJ / Chestnut Ridge, NY : top of the Garden State Parkway! |

Ditto on the above posts. They have nasty stings that i almost placed my ricordias beside the euphillia or catalaphyllia just to see who will win.
